Workers Compensation

Note: This information should not be considered as a replacement for a personal consultation with a board-certified or board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon.

An outstanding worker’s compensation program that promotes healing and minimizes disabilities can make the difference in meeting the health care needs of injured workers. OrthoMaryland offers worker’s compensation services that are supported by the following philosophy:

• Provide prompt access to medical care with treatment within 24 hours of the injury and a written report or completed form within 72 hours of initial evaluation.

• Furnish beneficial services to the employee, including the consideration of the employee’s injury as it relates to issues in the work and home environments, on the job, with personal skills and/or education.

• Promote a timely return to work through education concerning the value of re-establishing a regular work schedule at the earliest possible opportunity, encouraging alternative or modified useful work as part of the treatment plan, and/or facilitating the re-entry process with case managers.

• Use quality assurance measures such as “Best Practice” standards that are based on scientific evidence and/or expert consensus, as well as regular patient surveys assessing their satisfaction with the services provided.

• Establish effective communication among all parties by proactive case management and provide prompt responses to requests for additional information.

• Encourage safety and prevention measures through ongoing medical contact with the employer’s safety committees.

Case managers, insurance companies, attorneys AND patients choose OrthoMaryland because:

• we provide board certified, board eligible and/or fellowship trained physicians covering virtually all orthopaedic subspecialties,

• we have over 25 years of experience with worker’s compensation cases and IME’s,

• we are very responsive to the needs and requests of case managers,

• we always have timely appointments available,
