Currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Deitch is an experienced hand, microvascular and upper extremity surgeon and award-winning instructor who co-holds a patent for a variable load-bearing orthopaedic hand and wrist brace.
Before coming to OrthoMaryland in 2008, Dr. Deitch managed his own orthopaedic practice—MD3 Orthopaedics—in Baltimore. From 2001 through 2006, he served as attending surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and chief of hand and microvascular surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He has advanced expertise in upper extreme trauma, elbow surgery and surgical treatment of arthritis of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
Over the course of his career, he has co-presented research findings at numerous professional association meetings, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians annual meetings. He has also given Grand Rounds in orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In 2000, he was named Teacher of the Year in the University of Maryland Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Deitch is married with two children.
