Center for Sports Medicine, An OrthoMaryland Center of Excellence

From elite athletes to weekend warriors to armchair quarterbacks, people participate in activities for sports and physical fitness at many levels. Muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments—all of these musculoskeletal areas in both younger and older people are prone to sports-related orthopaedic injuries or issues.

OrthoMaryland’s Center for Sports Medicine provides the most innovative surgical and nonsurgical treatments for sports-related injuries, including rehabilitation and education. Our focus, in particular, is on shoulders and knees. As pioneers in arthroscopic surgery in Maryland, we continue leading in this area of expertise by performing the newest arthroscopic ligament and cartilage surgical techniques. Ultimately, our goal is for patients to return to play at the same level (or above!) where they were before the injury occurred.

Our sports medicine team includes physicians who were fellowship trained at the nation’s leading institutions, as well as two OrthoMaryland physicians with more than 35 years of experience. We provide physician coverage to several Baltimore area high school athletic teams and speak at many schools on sports-related health topics. In addition, we serve as specialists covering regional fitness and wellness centers. (To learn more about OrthoMaryland’s Centers of Excellence, click here.)
